Chelsea can win treble: Terry
November 03, 2004 19:42 IST
Chelsea can emulate Manchester United's 1999 achievement and win the treble this season, team captain John Terry said.
Terry's belief contradicted his manager Jose Mourinho's remarks that the English Premier League side needed more time.

Mourinho, who won Portugal's domestic title and the Champions League with Porto last season, had said he was unlikely to do the same this time around with Chelsea."I understand what the manager is saying but the belief running through the squad is that we can go all the way in every competition we are in," Terry was quoted as saying by the Evening Standard newspaper on Wednesday.
Manchester United won both the league and the FA Cup in 1999 before going on to clinch the Champions League title.
"Manchester United did the treble a few years ago and it would be a fantastic achievement to emulate them," he said.
Chelsea secured their place in the Champions League knockout stage on Monday with a 1-0 victory at CSKA Moscow in Group H. They are second in the Premier League with 26 points, trailing leaders Arsenal on goal difference.
"We have got 16 top players in every squad and sometimes eight internationals travelling to games as spectators," the England defender said.
Chelsea finished second in the Premier League last season behind Arsenal and reached the Champions League's semi-finals.
The club's Russian owner Roman Abramovich has spent over 150 million pounds ($275.2 million) on new players since taking over at Stamford Bridge last season.
