India too good for France
July 17, 2004 22:11 IST
India kept themselves on course for a confidence-boosting title triumph ahead of the Athens Olympics with an emphatic 5-0 win over France in the DSD four-nation hockey tournament in Dusseldorf on Saturday.
Deepak Thakur and Kanwalpreet Singh scored two goals each, while Gagan Ajit Singh sounded the board once to help India register their second consecutive win in the tournament.
India will now have to put it across firm favourites Germany in their last match on Sunday to win the title.
While France earned three penalty-corners two of which were saved by custodian Adrian D'Souza, and one went awry, India received just one, but Sandeep Singh's drag flick was off the mark.
