Gurkirat Singh finishes last

India's Gurkirat Singh finished last in a field of 12 in the men's javelin throw in the World Junior Athletics Championships in Grosseto, Italy.
The youngster managed only 62.72 metres in his first throw of the final but that remained his best in five attempts as he recorded 59.60m and 62.04m in the next two tries.
His last three throws were not measured.
Aleksey Tovarnov of Russia won the gold, setting a new World leading mark of 79.38 metres. It wás the first javelin gold for Russia in a World junior championships.
South Africa's Lohan Rautenbach took silver with 74.42 metres while World youth champion Julio Cesar de Oliveira was third with 73.86 metres.
In the men's triple jump, M Renjith of India went out in the first round, managing a best leap of 15.62 metres.
His first jump measured 14.96 metres before touching sand at 15.62m on his second attempt.
Ranjith's third and final jump was declared a foul.
India also entered in the men's 4x100m relay.
