Bahadur Singh's "no throw" show him the door

August 18, 2004 14:16 IST

India's Bahadur Singh failed to register a single legitimate throw and finished last in the men's shot put competition in the 28th Olympic Games in Athens on Wednesday.

Bahadur Singh, who had registered the personal best of 20.40 metres in Ukraine to qualify for the competition, fouled on all the three attempts to see his challenge wind off at the ancient Olympic stadium.

It was not a happy outing for the other shot putters either as only six could clear the automatic qualification mark of 20.40 metres.

Adam Nelson of United States of America was the top qualifier for the 12-man final with a best throw of 21.15 meters. Joachim Olsen of Denmark finished second with a throw of 20.78 metres.

The last qualification spot went to Miran Vodavnik of Slovakia who had a best throw of 20.04 metres.
