India beat Germany: Junior hockey

Though the seniors are struggling to make an impact in the Champions Trophy, the junior hockey team continued its winning run in the six-nation Junior Challenger hockey tournament in Gniezno, Poland, thrashing Germany 3-0 on Wednesday.
India, who whipped France 10-0 in their opening encounter, settled the issue in the first-half itself, scoring all the three goals before the break.
Sandeep Singh put India ahead in the 10th minute with a superb drag flick off a penalty-corner and skipper Prabodh Tirkey made it 2-0 in the very next minute.
Then, four minutes before the break, Girish Pimpale sounded the board from another penalty-corner to give India a commanding 3-0 lead, a statement from the Indian Hockey Federation said.
India take on Malaysia in their next match before meeting hosts Poland. They will clash with arch-rivals Pakistan on the concluding day of the touranament on Sunday.
In the other matches yesterday, Malaysia beat France 3-0 while Pakistan beat Poland 6-3.
