India's Jeev Milkha Singh shot a final round of level-par 72 to finish a disappointing 53rd at the 120-million-yen Aiful Cup played at the par-72 Twinfields Golf Club in Ishikawa, Japan, on Sunday.
Jeev, the 31-year old from Chandigarh, who slipped to tied-60 after a third round 77 on Saturday, finished with a tournament aggregate of two-under 286.
A tenth tee starter, the Indian began his round with a birdie and looked set to rectify the damage caused by his penultimate round. But he received a major setback following a double bogey on the 14th.
A birdie finish saw him tee it up on the first hole at level-par, though two holes later, he dropped a shot on the third. However, he soon made amends with a birdie on the fifth.
"I putted a lot better today but my short game still needs some working on," said Jeev, who tallied 26 putts for his round but missed nine greens in regulation for the second successive day.
"I made costly errors but for which I would have finished far higher on the leader-board. The double bogey on the 14th shook me a bit," added the golfer who holds the distinction of being the only Indian to qualify for the prestigious Nationwide Tour.
Overnight leader Taichi Teshima, courtesy a round of 4-under 68, scored his fist win of the season after beating fellow Japanese professional Katumasa Mizamoto in a play-off.
The play-off was necessitated after Teshima and Mizamoto finished tied at a 72-hole tally of 19-under 269.
