Bhutia in talks with Singapore club

April 28, 2003 21:34 IST

After spending three years with an English professional club, India's football captain Baichung Bhutia is now negotiating with a top Singapore outfit for the coming season.

"I have an offer from a top premier division club in Singapore. But there are several areas which require some more negotiations," Bhutia revealed.

The nimble-footed striker said the contract would be finalised only after certain issues are sorted out.

Bhutia, who refused to name the outift at this stage of negotiations, said he is looking for a three-month contract with the club.

"Negotiations are on. Let's see what transpires," he said.

Bhutia, the first Indian to turn out in the English professional league when he had a three-year stint with second division club Bury F C, returned to Indian club football last year, donning the jersey of soccer giants Mohun Bagan.

However, he had a dismal year, plagued by repeated injuries and recently admitted that he failed to serve Bagan well.
