Top seed Mustafa Ghouse and fifth seeded Manoj Mahadevan posted straight set victories to sail into the singles quarter-finals in the $6250 second leg ITF men's Satellite tennis tournament, at the Dr Ranade Centre, in Mumbai, on Wednesday.
Mahadevan took an hour-and-a-half to sideline Rishi Sridhar 6-4, 6-3 while Ghouse needed a first set tie-break to
subdue Shivang Mishra 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 in match lasting an hour and 55 minutes.
Eighth seed Rafael Moreno-Negrin of Spain beat unseeded Ciaran Moore of South Africa 6-3, 6-0 in
65 minutes as unseeded Vijay Kannan drubbed qualifier Karan
Rastogi 6-2, 6-3.
In another pre-quarter-final between two unseeded players,
Raviv Volkovitzky of Israel defeated giant-killer Sebastian
Niedermayer of Germany, who had accounted for second seed Tomer
Suissa of Isreal in a late night match on Tuesday, 6-4, 6-4.
Wild card Sandeep Kirtane had an easy outing, beaing unseeded Igor Levine of Russia 6-2, 6-1 in 62
minutes.
In the quarter-finals on Thursday, Ghouse will take on Ciaran Moore while Vijay Kannan will play Sandeep Kirtane.
