Prahlad Srinath gets
Davis Cup recall
Baseliner Prahlad Srinath, who impressed on the Indian Satellite circuit this month, has been recalled to India's Davis Cup squad.
Srinath joins doubles specialists Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, Harsh Mankad and big-serving Rohan Bopanna in the squad to play a zonal tie against New Zealand from April 5 to 7 in Wellington, a tennis official said on Friday.
The 28-year-old Srinath replaces national hardcourt champion Vijay Kannan.
India, led by the former world number one doubles pair of Paes and Bhupathi, lost a World Group play-off tie 4-1 to the United States in North Carolina last year but beat Lebanon 5-0 in February.
Mankad has been playing second singles because of a niggling injury to Bhupathi but Srinath's return to the squad will give non-playing captain Ramesh Krishnan more options.
