Indian cueists continue good show
Indian cueists continued to dominate on the third day of the second Asian billiards championship in Bangalore on Wednesday.
National champion Ashok Shandilya registered his maiden victory in the tournament as his compatriots, defending champion Geet Sethi, junior national champion Pankaj Advani and Alok Kumar also won easily.
Shandilya, who lost to wild card Advani on Tuesday, outplayed U Kyaw Oo (Myanmar) 3-0 in a Group B league match, winning 100-40, 100-67, 101-62. He had good break of 89 on his third visit of the first game, and an unfinished century on
the second visit of the second game.
In the Group A league, Sethi defeated Mongkhon (Thailand)
3-0 (100-9, 101-23, 101-8) to register his second victory; Devendra Joshi beat Boteju (Sri Lanka) 101-50, 102-63, 100-51 to register his fourth successive victory; Dhruv Sitwala humbled Muslim of
Indonesia 3-0 (101-28, 101-0, 101-48) and U Aung San Oo (Myanmar)
outplayed Ronnie Chua Poh Teck (Singapore) 3-0 (101-97, 101-6,
101-0).
Advani proved too good for Glen Yeo Teck Shin (Singapore)
in a Group B league match, winning 100-44, 100-2,
100-2.
In another match in the same group, Alok Kumar scored a 92-100, 100-17, 100-56, 100-18 over Uden Khaimukh of Thailand.
The Group A match between Sethi and Joshi was postponed
to Thursday at Sethi's request, as he had to leave for Mumbai
urgently, organisers said.
