Prahlad Srinath in last four

Davis Cupper Prahlad Srinath staged a grand fightback after losing the second set to beat qualifier Meir Deri and enter the semi-finals of the US$ 10,000 Rrexona-Deo ITF men's Futures tennis championships at the Nungambakkam stadium in Chennai on Thursday. The Karnataka ace won 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 after a little over two hours.

However, Vishal Uppal, the other Indian in the last eight stage, crashed out, losing to Britain's David Sherwood 3-6, 5-7.

"He was playing very well. I was surprised to see him making so many mistakes in the third set. I exploited them to my advantage," said Srinath after his victory over Deri.

In the other quarter-final matches, unseeded Czech Jakub Hasek upset a higher ranked Mohammed Dakki of Morocco 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, while unseeded Branislav Sekac of Slovakia, ranked (681), also caused an upset, beating Israel's Tomer Suissa 7-5, 6-3.
