Three Indians in last four

Three Indian juniors entered the semi-finals of the Pretoria University Junior ITF grade-2 tennis tournament, at the Pretoria University Cports Center, in Pretoria, South Africa, on Thursday.

Top seed Sania Mirza, second seed Isha Lakhani had easy wins while fourteenth seed Tara Iyer had a tough time in her quarter-final match.

Sania defeated fifth seed Michelle Snyman of South Africa 6-2 6-1; Isha ousted Tapiwa Maroebela of Botswana 6-1, 6-1 while Tara got past Polina Zaraster of the United States 7-6(7-2), 6-2.

In the semis, Sania will take on third seed South African Kelly Anderson while Isha will face Tara Iyer.

Sania had lost to Kelly in a tough semi-final at the last week's event in Pretoria.

In the doubles, top seeds Sania and Isha thrashed Lize-Marie Cloete and Sylvarie Spangenberg of South Africa 6-0, 6-4 in 35 minutes to enter semi-finals.

Earlier they defeated Shilla D'Armas of Venezuela and Polina Zaraster of the United States in the second round after a first round bye.

Young Tara Iyer partnering with Channell Meijer of South Africa will face Claudia Dresselhaus of Namibia and Kate Mc Dade of South Africa in the second round match. The duo defeated South African pair of Suzaan Blanche and Marcelle Boshoff 6-0, 6-1 in the first round.

Isha had won last week's event at Groenkloof tennis stadium.
