Madhaiah shoots rare hole-in-one
S Madhaiah of Bangalore snatched the limelight from
the more established names on the Hero Honda Golf Tour when he shot a rare
hole-in-one in the second round of the Royal Challenge Grand Prix, being
played at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club, in Mumbai.
Madhaiah's effort saw him become the first golfer to win a 'Hero Honda
Passion' motorcycle, offered as a prize for the first ace scored in any
tournament by Tour sponsors Hero Honda Motors Ltd.
Madhaiah's achievement came on the 189-yard second hole after the golfer's
6-iron tee shot saw the ball bounce once before settling comfortably in the
cup.
The motorcycle is awarded to the first professional golfer to ace a hole in
any four-day professional Hero Honda Golf Tour event.
Madhaiah is the second golfer to accomplish this rare feat this season.
Delhi's Vinod Kumar carded the season's first hole-in-one on the 13th hole
of the Karnataka Golf Association course during the Hero Honda South. Vinod,
however, missed out on the award, which was instituted a month after his
ace.
