Wild card Nishank Mishra goes down fighting

Three Indians, Shivang Mishra, Somdev Dev Verman and Rishi Sridhar, scored straight set wins over their respective opponents to move into the second round in the first leg of the $ 6250 Satellite tennis tournament in Delhi on Monday.

In an all-India affair, Shivang Mishra blanked Vijayendra Laad without conceding a point. In a match which turned out to be a no contest,Shivang won 6-0, 6-0.

Qualifier Somdeev K Dev Verman from Chennai waged a tough battle to oust much experienced state mate Vinod Sridhar 6-4, 7-5.

Rishi Sridhar had an easy outing against compatriot Ravi Krishna Palivela, prevailing at 6-2, 6-3.

Spain's Rafeal Moreno-Negrin had little difficulty in taming India's Kamala Kannan 6-3, 6-2.

South Africa's Ciaran Moore survived a scare against wild carder Nishank Mishra before emerging winner in three sets. Nishank won the first set but the South African came back strongly to win the next two to clinch the issue. Moore won 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
