India in Asian basketball semis

India had things their way while whipping Macau 142-33 to reach the semi-finals of the 19th Asian women's basketball championship in Bangkok on Tuesday.

In the other quarter-final, Uzbekistan also had little problems while crushing Sri Lanka 113-48 on the sixth day of the competition.

In Wednesday's semi-finals, China will face Taiwan while South Korea will play Japan in the level I category, while India will meet Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan take on Malaysia in the semi-finals of level II.

The top three teams from level I, comprising China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand, will travel to China next year for the World Championship.

Level II teams, which are vying for a slot among the Level I sides, include Hong Kong, India, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Macau, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan.

North Korea is not participating in this year's tournment due to financial constraints, organisers said.
