SAF Games meeting on Friday

Fresh dates for the South Asia Federation Games, postponed after the terror strikes in the United States, will be discussed at a meeting of member countries in Islamabad on Friday.

The meeting, to be presided over by the chairman of the SAF Games Organising Committee, General Syed Arif Hasan, will discuss various issues and attempt a consensus on the revised dates for the seven-nation event, it was announced.

The SAF Games were to have been held in Islamabad from October 6.

Besides the secretaries of the 15 national federations of member countries, the secretary of the Pakistan Olympic Committee, Muhammad Latif Butt and the director general of the Pakistan Sports Board, Brigadier Saulat Abbas will also attend the meeting.

The SAF Games bring together sportspersons from the seven member countries of the South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) - Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
