Top players for Asian jr. tennis

Top junior players of the continent will be seen in action in the ITF Asian Junior tennis championship (under-18), to be held in Delhi from December 3 to 9.

This is the first time that this tournament is being held in India. Japan had hosted all previous editions of the tourney.

The comprises 32 players in the singles and 16 pairs in the doubles events -- in both boys and girls sections.

Players from nine countries -- India, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Korea, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand and Uzbekistan -- are taking part in the tournament.

In doubles 14 pairs will be direct entries and two will get wild cards.

The singles winner will earn 120 ITF points, the runners up 80 points, semi-finalists 60 points, quater finalists 40 points, and round losers 25 points.

The doubles winners will earn 80 points, runners up 60 points, semi-finalist 40 points and quarter-finalists 25 points.

In the boys' section among the 24 direct entries, ten are Indians while 13 Indians are among the 22 girls who have received acceptance.
