Atwal qualifies for European PGA TourArjun Atwal returned an impressive four-under 68 in the final round of the final stage of the European PGA Tour's Qualifying-School to become only the second Indian to qualify for the prestigious golf event. Jeev Milkha Singh was the first Indian to make it to the EPGA Tour. He qualified in 1997 and has been a regular on the tour since 1998. The Calcutta-based Atwal's sixth round 68 enabled him to finish tied-15th with an impressive tally of eight-under 424. His earlier five rounds brought him scores of 73, 67, 75, 71 and 70. The final stage was held at the San Rogue Club and Real Club de Golf Sotogrande in southern Spain. Atwal now joins 35 other players who made it to the Category 11 exemption on the European PGA Tour. An exemption in this category gives the players playing privilege throughout the 2002 season. Chandigarh's Amandeep Johl, the other Indian in the Q-School, missed the cut, applied at one-over 289 after the fourth round. Johl finished 113th, with a tally of five-over 293. The tournament was won by Johan Skold. The Swede shot a final round 70 to tally 17-under 415.
