Atwal tied-seventh in EuropeArjun Atwal, jumped 77 spots ahead, to tie at seventh position, courtesy a well-compiled five-under 67, the second best card of the day, in the third round of the six-round final stage of the European PGA Tour Q-School, being played at the San Rogue Club & Real Club de Golf Sotogrande in southern Spain. Atwal, who was tied 84th overnight, aggregates four-under 140 at the half-way stage. Amandeep Johl, the other Indian in the fray, was tied 118th with a tally of five-over 149. Sweden’s Magnus Persson, at seven-under 137, leads the tournament. He played to one-under 71 on Friday. Chopra tied 14th at USPGA Tour Q-school: Daniel Chopra, the Swedish golfer of Indian origin, returned a modest three-over 75 but still sat at the tied-14th position with a tally of two-under 214, after round three of the second stage of the US PGA Tour Qualifying School tournament, which started at various venues across the United States on Wednesday. Chopra and the other Indian hope, Jyoti Randhawa, are playing at the par-72 Orange County National course at Orlando, Florida. Randhawa, despite his impressive showing in the first stage of the Q-School, has struggled this week. On Friday, in spite of a three-under 69, the Gurgaon-based golfer had to be content with a tied 47th place, with his aggregate standing at five-over 221. Jim McGovern, who was in a three-way lead overnight, made the top position his own with a two-under 70 placing him at eight-under 208 for the tournament. The top 20 players and ties from each venue will make it to the final stage of Qualifying School, which will be a six-round affair at the Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, starting from November 27. Hero Honda-sponsored Jeev Milkha Singh, the other Indian interest trying for a USPGA Tour card, became the only Indian to move into the final stage of the Qualifying School with an impressive-second stage performance last week.
