Services in quarter-finals, Assam bt MPDown by a goal at half time, Services rallied superbly to defeat Rajasthan 5-2 to enter the quarter-finals from cluster-1, while Assam beat Madhya Pradesh with two second half goals in cluster-2 in the 57th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy in Bombay on Saturday.At the university grounds, Services were down by a goal against Rajasthan, mid-fielder Dilip Singh scoring for Rajasthan in the 27th minute. However, Services regrouped well after half-time and their striker Amar Thapa equalised in the 46th minute. Two minutes later winger Preetam Bahadur increased the lead with a fine solo run. Mid-fielder Irudaya Raj made it 3-1 in the 60th minute and winger Sajith Kumar pumped in two goals in the 67th and 69th minutes. For Rajasthan, Ashfaq Qureshi reduced the margin in the 81st minute with a header off Dilip Singh cross. The Assam-MP match turned out be a close affair with the first half being scoreless despite Assam making some good moves. The first goal was a result of substitute Birjab Moshahary being brought down inside the box by MP mid-fielder Hardeep Kumar Sharma. Assam mid-fielder Subir Goswami, who took the resulting penalty, made no mistake. In the 77th minute, Moshahary scored off winger Padum Rabha centre. The ball deflected off a defender's leg before entering the goal mouth.
