Churchill Brothers take full
points from JCT
JCT Mills' torrid run in the National Football League continued on Sunday when they lost yet
another home match to Goan side Churchill Brothers, by a
solitary goal.
The all-important goal was scored in the 76th minute by
Francis Siliveira.
In another match, at Thiruvananthapuram, local outfit State Bank
of Travancore were held to a goalless draw by Vasco, Goa.
Both teams missed at least a dozen chances in a dull and
drab match.
This is the eighth draw for Vasco and they remain in the
fifth spot with 20 points. SBT also remain in
11th place with 12 points.
Silveira slotted home past JCT custodian Arvind Kumar
after Igor Shkvirnin and Hyder Farooq combined well to weave
into the rival box.
With this win, their fifth in the league, Churchill now
has 19 points from 14 matches, while JCT, who are yet to win an
NFL encounter from as many outings, remain on seven points and are placed at the bottom of the 12-team league.
The first half remained barren even though Churchill
dominated throughout, but their moves narrowly missed the
target forcing JCT to remain defensive.
