India win first SAARC Cup basketballHosts India drubbed Bangladesh 139-34 to win the first SAARC basketball championship for men, at the NF Railway stadium, at Maligaon, in Guwahati, on Tuesday. The winners led 63-10 at half-time. The Indian men dominated the game right from the beginning and netted points at regular intervals. The packed crowd had lot to cheer as skipper Parminder Singh scored 28 points while Robinson netted 11 and Sabir Ahmed 15 for India. Rasidul Zaman was the top scorer for Bangladesh, with 10 points, while Fazal Samad netted nine. In the earlier match, Nepal won the third spot while Maldives was placed last at fourth.
