Vasco stun SalgaocarAn injury time goal by substitute Kishore Palkar helped debutants Vasco to edge past Salgaocar 2-1 and gain full points from their National Football League match, at the Nehru stadium, in Margao, Goa, on Thursday. Salgaocar shot into the lead in the 15th minute through Bruno Coutinho. Alvito D'Cunha, who took a free-kick from the right, floated the ball into the box, beating the entire rival defence. Coutinho neatly headed the ball into the net, giving no chance to advancing keeper Rogerio Ramos. Vasco, who dominated the second half, restored parity in the 57th minute through defender Seby Dias. Vasco coach Derrick Perreira's ploy of bringing in Gregory Clark in place of Ravi Babu paid dividends as his midfield functioned well and helped them restore parity. Clark, who took a flag-kick from the right, floated the ball into the goal area, from where defender Seby Dias leaped high to nod home from close. The goal acted as a tonic for Vasco, who stormed the rival half more often. After missing some close chances, they scored the all-improtant goal in injury time. Daniel Colaco worked on the right and sent a diagonal pass to substitute Kishore Palkar into the box. Palkar beat the rival keeper to give Vasco full ponts. With the victory, Vasco have 17 points and move to the fourth place, displacing Mohun Bagan, who have 16 points from 10 matches. Salgaocar have 19 points from 10 matches.
