Randhir Singh elected IOC member

Ace shooter Randhir Singh was elected member of the International Olympic Committee in Moscow on Monday.

The sportsman-turned-administrator, currently secretary-general of the Indian Olympic Association and Olympic Council of Asia, was among six elected to the apex world sports body.

Hailing from the Patiala royal family, Randhir Singh excelled as shooter and represented India at the Olympics, World Shooting championships and Asian Games.

His father, the late Raja Bhalendra Singh, was one of the longest serving IOC members.

Randhir is also a senior offical of the Delhi Amateur Athletic Association.

The last Indian to serve as a member of the IOC was Ashwini Kumar, who retired in December last year.
