Indian lass Jahnavi Parekh, playing with Katja Kovac of Slovakia, won the doubles title at the $10,000 Satellite tournament in Waco, Texas.
Parekh and Kovac defeated Gaelle Adda of France and Anzela Zguna of Latvia 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 in the final.
Kovac was Jahnavi's regular partner at Baylor University. Together they formed a top-10 doubles team in college and reached four finals in collegiate doubles.
However, Jahnavi lost in the singles final, to Julie Ditty of the United States 2-6, 4-6. In the semi-finals she defeated fifth seed Anzela Zguna of Latvia, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Jahnavi would have been tired even before the final after playing eight matches, four of them three-setters, in the last five days on the way to the doubles title.
Jahnavi picked five WTA points from the doubles title and five (including one bonus) from the singles final.
In the men's circuit, Harsh Mankad, playing with Jonathan Beardsley of the United States, came through the qualifiers to make it to the main draw at the $50,000+H Granby challenger being played in Canada.
The duo will face the wildcard Canadian pair of Michal Ciszek and Stefan Timu in the first round.
In the singles, Harsh went down in the final round of the qualifiers, losing to the hottest player in the Canadian futures -- Benjamin Cassaigne of France, 3-6, 2-6. Cassaigne had won titles in the second and third legs of the Canada futures after Harsh won the first leg.
In the juniors circuit, Tejeshwar Chigateri and Jaco Matthew lost in the doubles quarter-finals at the Ukraine Grade-5 event. The duo had won the Head Cup Grade-4 doubles title in the first week of July.
In the singles, Tejeshwar Chigateri lost in the quarter-finals, whereas Jacco Matthew went down in the first round.
