Boris and Barbara Becker divorcedA German court on Monday granted a divorce to former world tennis champion Boris Becker and his wife Barbara, just over a month after the shock news that their marriage was in trouble, a court offical said. The divorce followed a reported out-of-court settlement reached in the United States on the terms of the split. "Boris and Babs" were known as one of Germany's most glamorous and popular celebrity couples until the December 9 announcement of a separation. The Sunday edition of the German newspaper Bild said the deal stipulated shared custody of their two children, Noah Gabriel, seven, and Elias Balthasar, one, as well as alimony payments. Under the reported deal reached in Florida, where the couple have a home, the three-time Wimbledon champion will pay his wife some 14.3 million dollars Barbara Becker is said to have been given the choice of retaining the couple's Florida home on Fisher island, estimated at around three million dollars, or their house in the southern German city of Munich. She had demanded sole custody of the children and the Florida house, where she has been staying with the children since the split, as well as alimony of 22 million dollars. The 33-year-old former tennis star filed for divorce on December 15 in the Munich court after his wife took the children to Florida. Barbara, also 33, retaliated by filing for divorce in Miami.
