Fazal and Uzbek partner in doubles semis
India's Syed Fazaluddin, pairing with Uzbekistan's Dmitri Tomashevich, moved into the doubles
semi-finals of the ITF-Futures 2001 tournament in Jorhat on Wednesday. Tomashevich, the top seed
in the men's singles, also booked a place in singles quarterfinals.
In the singles match, after winning the first set 6-3 against Kokurin,
Tomashevich lost the second 4-6. But he had little
trouble in the third to wrap up the match at 6-2 and book a place in the last eight stage.
Later Fazaluddin and Tomashevic outclassed the
Indian duo of Rohan Bopanna and Vijay Kannan 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 in
a doubels quarter-final match at the Jorhat Tennis Club.
Saurav Panja and Prahlad Srinath lost their doubles
quarter-final to Great Britain's James Nelson and Oliver
Freelove 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
Indonesians Wibowo and Wiryawan beat Donovan September of
South Africa and James Aukland of Great Britain 6-1, 6-2 to
move into the last four.
The South African-Indonesian pair of De Voscot and
Pramono got through the semis via a walk over, when Victor
Bruthans and Hasko of Slovakia did not turn up.
