Top seed Nedunchezien upsetUnseeded N S Nichendran of Sri Lanka stunned top seed M Jeevan Nedunchezien of Tamil Nadu to move into the boys' under-14 quater-finals in the DSCL Open National tennis championship in Delhi on Wednesday. The Lankan proved too strong for his fancied rival, conceding only four points in the first set before winning the tie at 6-4, 6-0. Five others seeds in the under-14 section and four in the under-16 also fell by the wayside in the pre-quarter-finals. In the under-16 section, fifth seed Vijay Sunder Prasanth (TN), seventh seed Ashuman Dutta (Assam), 11th seed Sujai Mahadevan (Maharashtra) and 14th seed Wirk Ganguly (Delhi) crashed out. Fifth seed Hrishikesh Patskar (Maharashtra), sixth seed S.Parteek (Karnataka), seventh seed Vivek Shooken (Delhi), ninth seed Vijit Sehgal (Delhi) and 14th seed Dhruv Sunder (Karnataka) were ousted in the under-14 section. In the girls' under-16, all the five seeds left in the fray moved into the quarter-finals. In the under-14 category two seded players -- third seed Preeti (Tamil Nadu) and sixth seed D Tejaswini (Andhra) failed to make it to the last eight. In the boys' under-16 section, top seed Tushar Liberhan scored an easy win over Chatwinder Singh, winning 6-1,7-5 in all-Chandigarh affair.
