Jaspal, Naresh bag second goldJaspal Rana and Naresh Kumar won their second gold medals of the tournament as Indian shooters continued their good show in the fourth Commonwealth Shooting championships in Bisley, England, on Monday. Rana and Naresh shot a combined score of 1139 in the Centrefire Pistol team event to bag the gold. Rana fired a 574 while Naresh shot 565. The pair had won the Standard Pistol event on Sunday. In the women's Sport Pistol event, Saroja Kumari and Sushma Rana fired 552 and 545 respectively to win the silver medal, national coach Prof Sunny Thomas informed from Bisley. Ved Prakash won a badge silver in the men's Centrefire Pistol with a score of 571. However, Shweta Chaudhury had to remain content with a fourth place for the badge honours in women's Sport Pistol. She scored 554 after losing 10 points. The individual events began on Monday with three of the five rounds of Shotgun trap shooting being fired. Manavjeet Singh Sandhu was in joint lead with two others at 71 points, having scores of 24, 23 and 24 in the three rounds. Veteran Mansher Singh was in the joint fourth spot with 69 (23, 22, 24) points while Anwar Sultan was following close behind with 68 (25, 21, 22). The remaining two rounds of the event will be held on Tuesday. The other individual events will also start on Tuesday.
