Doubles troubles for IndiansNirupama Vaidyanathan with Yuka Yoshida of Japan lost in the doubles semi-finals at the $100,000 G H Bronx Classic in Bronx, the United States. The duo lost to Clarisa Fernandez of Argentina and Rika Fujiwara of Japan 5-7, 3-6 in the semis. Fernandez and Fujiwara went on to win the title. The Indian picked 18 WTA points from the tournament. Last year Nirupama had lost in the qualifiers of the doubles as the top seeds with Evie Dominikovic. In the men's doubles at the same challenger, Syed Fazaluddin, parternering with Cedric Kauffmann of France, lost in the quarter-finals. The duo lost to unseeded Kelly Gullett of the United States and Bobby Kokavec of Canada 2-6, 7-5, 4-6. Gullett and Kokavec went on to win the title. At the $10,000 Thailand satellite in Nonthaburi, top seeds Rushmi Chakravarti and Sai Jayalakshmi were upset by the fourth seed Indonesian pair of Romana Tedjakusuma and Angelique Widjaja 0-6, 7-6(4), 1-6 in the semi-final. Romana Tedjakusuma and Angelique Widjaja went on to win the title. Angelique Widjaja is the current junior Wimbledon champion.
