Beenamol last in her semi-final heatThe Rediff Team K M Beenamol's challenge in the women's 400 metres came to an end on Sunday afternoon after she finished last in the second heat of the semi-finals, which was won by Australia's Cathy Freeman in 50.01 seconds, the best time recorded in the two heats. Beenamol, running in lane 8, clocked 52.04 seconds, a time that was a shade better than the 52.49 seconds registered by Nova Peris-Kneebone of Australia in the first heat, which was won by Lorraine Graham of Jamaica in 50.28 seconds. Beenamol's semi-final timing was well behind the 51.81 seconds she clocked in her second round heat on Saturday. Joining Freeman and Graham in the final are Kathrine Murray of Great Britain, Heide Seyerling of South Africa, Olga Kotlyarova of Russia, Ana Guevarra of Mexico, Falilat Ogunkoya of Nigeria and Donna Fraser of Great Britain.
