Jeweller catches Greene's golden shoe

An Australian jeweller struck gold on Saturday by catching the shoe that US sprinter Maurice Greene threw into the crowd after winning the men's 100 metres Olympic final.

"Someone juggled it and as soon as I touched it I gripped it. I wasn't going to let it go," said Ben Harper.

The shoe, decorated with the stars and stripes, has a base and spikes coated in gold.

"24 carat gold," joked the 20-year-old apprentice jeweller.
