Karthikeyan will have to wait

Jaguar have postponed a test for Narain Karthikeyan, who would have become the first Indian to drive a Formula One car on Friday.

A team spokeswoman said on Wednesday that the test at Silverstone would be rescheduled for later next month although no date had been fixed.

"We are obliged to do it this year under contractual obligation," she said.

Karthikeyan was signed by Stewart, whose Formula One team was taken over by Jaguar, to race in Formula Three last season with South African Tomas Scheckter -- now Jaguar's Formula One test driver for 2001.

The Indian set pole in the recent Macau Formula Three grand prix and won two races in Korea on Sunday.

Formula One teams are allowed to start testing again on December 1 after a month long break following the end of the 2000 season. The 2001 season starts in March.
