Aussie women's hockey team topsThe Australian women's hockey team has won three major awards following its gold medal performance at the Sydney Olympics, the team announced on Monday. Double Olympic gold medallist Alyson Annan was voted international female player of the year for the second time at an awards dinner in Paris, Australian hockey media manager Judith Coen said in a statement. The striker also won the award at its inception three years ago. Team coach Ric Charlesworth, who has stepped down after eight years to take up a position in Australian football, was named the Australian Sports Commission's male team coach of the year for the fourth time. The Victorian Olympic Council dinner awarded the team the title of most outstanding Australian team performance at the Sydney Games. The award was voted on by 5,000 past and present Olympians. The team also won the award in 1996 after winning gold at Atlanta.
