Karthikeyan for F1 eventNarain Karthikeyan, the fastest Indian on wheels, will participate in a Formula 1 event in December. The Indian racing ace announced his entry into the big league of motorsport at the regional finals of the National Go-Karting championships in Hyderabad on Sunday, after providing a spectacular karting performance. Mandeep Singh and Pradeep Singh emerged the two finalists from the Hyderabad leg of the seven leg regional championships, organised by Mumbai's Sportscraft, and will compete for the national title, alongwith finalists from six other centres, in Delhi, on December 24. Mandeep and Pradeep, both newcomers to the sport, clocked the fastest times in their respective groups and were placed first and second overall, beating more than 100 competitors. Mandeep took home a cash prize of Rs 15,000 while Pradeep pocketed Rs 12,500. After Hyderabad, the action moves on to Pune, Bombay, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Ludhiana and Delhi. The regional finalists from all these centres will participate in the final.
