India notch another easy winSportalasia
The tournament favourites tore the Uzbeks apart, scoring 16 goals with only one unexpected reply from the minnows. Having already qualified for the semifinals as unassailable group leaders even before the start of the match, the Indian could have set back and enjoyed a slow game. India even rested young Prabjot Singh who bagged a double hattrick in the 22-0 massacre of Iran yesterday but rising star Deepak Thakur emulated the feat today. Ajit Singh Gagan bagged two goals in each half to bring his tournament tally to 13, making him the top scorer thus far.
However, Uzbekistan deserve some credit for their fighting spirit which resulted in Mashhurbek Sotvoldiyer sounding the board for the minnows in the 62nd minute via a field goal. It was India all the way from the very first minute as the Asian Games champion's junior side camped in the Uzbekistan half. Courtsey: www.hockeyasia.com
