Statistical Highlights 8th match: Pakistan v Australia at Melbourne, 23-1-2000Mohandas Menon This match was the 1545th in Limited over international (LOI) history. This match was Pakistan's and Australia's 449th LOI. This match was the 55th meeting between the two sides. During his innings of 6, Steve Waugh, when on 2, surpassed the previous record aggregate of 832 runs of Dean Jones to become the Australian with maximum runs against Pakistan. At the end of the match, Steve Waugh now has 837 runs (avg 27.90) in 38 matches. Moin Khan equalled the LOI record for the maximum dismissals by a keeper, when he had five dismissals (3cts+2sts) in this match. With Moin already achieving this once before (v Zimbabwe at Harare on 26-2-1995), when he claimed 5 catches, he remains the 17th keeper in LOIs to do so. It however provided the 24th instance of keepers taking five dismissals in a LOI match. The only other Pakistani keeper to achieve this was Rashid Latif - 4 cts+1st - v New Zealand at Lahore on 6-3-1996. Moin Khan now emulates Sri Lankan Guy deAlwis (5 cts - at Colombo, PS on 13-4-1983) to become the only second keeper to do so against Australia. Three other Pakistanis - Wasim Bari (on 10-1-1984), Ashraf Ali (25-1-1984) and Salim Yousuf (20-2-1990) have each taken three dismissals against Australia - all at Sydney. Moin Khan now becomes the only third keeper to take five dismissals in a LOI match in Australia. The others being India's Sadanand Viswanath (v England at Sydney, 26-2-1985) and West Indian Courtney Browne (v Sri Lanka, Brisbane, 5-1-1996). Moin Khan thus became the first keeper to claim five dismissals in a LOI match at Melbourne. Australian Adam Gilchrist has twice taken four dismissals - against South Africa on 23-1-1998 and against England on 13-2-1999. When he held the catch of Symonds, Moin playing in his 145th match (as a keeper) became the third keeper in LOI history to take 200 dismissals (148ct+52st). The others being Australian Ian Healy (233 - 194ct+39st in 168 matches) and West Indian Jeff Dujon (203 - 182ct+21st in 167 matches). At the end of the match, Moin has 203 dismissals (149ct+54st) and is now in joint second position with Dujon. Ijaz Ahmed's 85 just failed to surpass Pakistan's highest individual score against Australia at this venue, which still remains with Wasim Akram - 86 on 23-2-1990. However Pakistan's best at this venue against any team still remains as the unbeaten 102 by Rameez Raja against West Indies on 23-2-1992. Moin Khan's 33 enabled him to perform an unique "all-round" feat, which has been achieved by very few keepers in LOIs. West Indian Ridley Jacobs remains the only one to score a fifty (80*) and take five dismissals in the same match against New Zealand at Southampton on 24-5-1999. Zimbabwean Andy Flower against England at Harare on 3-1-1997 - score 35 and also had five dismissals in the same match. Australia's win by 15 runs was its narrowest against Pakistan in terms of runs. Their previous narrowest win came in the Reliance Cup semi-final at Lahore on 4-11-1987, when Australia won by 18 runs. It was Michael Bevan's 5th man of the match award of his career in his 128th match.
