Statistical Highlights 4th match: India v Australia at Sydney, 14-1-2000 (d/n)

• This match was the 1540th in Limited over international (LOI) history.

• This match was India's 428th and Australia's 446th in LOIs. Australia has now played in maximum LOIs than any other team. Pakistan has appeared in 445 matches.

• This match was the 59th meeting between the two sides.

• It was the 102nd match to be played at this venue. It was the 83rd match for the Australians, while the Indians were playing their 11th match at this venue, although the two teams were meeting each other at Sydney for the eighth occasion.

• Anil Kumble's "duck" was his 13th of his career. He now equals the Indian record jointly held by Kapil Dev and Javagal Srinath - the most ducks by an Indian batsman.

• Glenn McGrath's wicket of Tendulkar was his 150th of his career in 104 matches. He becomes the fourth Australian after Shane Warne (214 wickets in 134 matches), Craig McDermott (203 in 138) and Steve Waugh (191 in 279). He also becomes the 23rd bowler in LOI history to do so.

• It was McGrath's fourth dismissal of Tendulkar in 10 matches. Sri Lankan Santh Jayasuriya has been dismissed on maximum occasions - six - by McGrath in 14 matches. Other than Tendulkar, the other batsmen dismissed on four occasions by McGrath are: Zimbabwean Grant Flower (in 7 matches), Sri Lankan Romesh Kaluwitharana (in 15 matches) and South African Gary Kirsten (in 17 matches).

• Adam Gilchrist in his 79th match claimed his 100th catch of his career. He becomes the third Australian after Rodney Marsh and Ian Healy and the eighth keeper in LOIs to do so.

• McGrath's bowling analysis of 10-4-8-4 was the most economical by an Australian bowler bowling his full quota of overs in a LOI match. The previous best figures was: 10-5-9-2 by Mick Malone against the West Indies at Melbourne on 10-1-1982.

• It was the second most economical bowling performance by a bowler at this venue. West Indian Phil Simmons' 10-8-3-4 against West Indies on 17-12-1992 remains the best. Just for the record, the previous best figures by an Australian at this venue was the 10-6-12-4 by Dennis Lillee against England on 14-1-1980.

• McGrath's figures were also the most economical by any bowler bowling his full quota of overs in a LOI match against India. The previous best were by New Zealand's Ewan Chatfield (10-5-13-0) at Adelaide on 25-1-1986 and Sri Lankan Chamida Vaas (10-3-13-2) at Mumbai on 17-5-1997 . The previous best by an Australian against India was the figures of 10-2-16-0 by Bruce Reid at Perth on 8-12-1991.

• McGrath (4-8) and Andrew Symonds (4-11) have now conceded least runs by a bowler who have captured four or more wickets against India in LOIs. Pakistani Imran Khan (6-14) at Sharjah on 22-3-1985 and Sri Lankan Arjuna Ranatunga (4-14) at Kanpur on 24-12-1986 have had earlier conceded the least runs by bowlers capturing four or wickets against India.

• Extras was the top-scorer with 32 runs in India's innings of 100 runs (Dravid with 22 was the highest scorer with the bat). It provided the 18th occasion in LOIs when extras top-scorer in an innings. This was the third occasion when extras top-scored in an Indian innings. The previous two instances came against Pakistan on 23-9-1996 and West Indies on 12-9-1999 - both at Toronto.

• The 32 extras conceded by Australian bowlers constituted 32% of the Indian team's total. This was a new record in LOIs. Indian bowlers had conceded 34 extras in Bangladesh's total of 115 at Mumbai on 25-5-1998. On this occasion the extras constituted 29.56% of the Indian team's total.

• India's total of 100 was its fourth lowest in LOIs. The full list:

• Srinath's 4-30 was the second best figures by an Indian bowler in Australia. Dilip Doshi (v NZ, at Brisbane, 20-12-1980) and Kapil Dev (v Aus, at Melbourne, 31-1-1986) had identical figures as Srinath. The best figures of 5-15 however remain with Ravi Shastri, against the West Indies at Perth, 8-12-1991.

• Srinath's figures are now the best by an Indian bowler at this venue. It betters the previous best of 4-37 by Madan Lal against New Zealand on 5-3-1985.

• Srinath's four wickets has taken his tally to 247, which places him second after Kapil Dev (253 wickets) still the maximum by an Indian bowler in LOIs. Srinath has now pushed team-mate Anil Kumble (246) to the third spot.

• Andrew Symonds' all-round performance of 4-11 and 28 (not out) was the second best by an Australian against India after the 33 (not out) and 5-15 by Greg Chappell also at the same venue on 8-1-1981.

• Australia has now won all its eight matches against India at Sydney.

• Symonds was winning his second man of the match award in his 12th match for Australia. His first award also came against India at Galle on 23-8-1999.
