Donald hints at retirement

South Africa speedster Allan Donald yesterday hinted that he may announce his retirement from Test cricket during the final Test against England this Sunday.

The 33-year-old bowler is still 10 wickets away from achieving his ambition of taking 300 Test wickets.

"There's a lot of talking and convincing to be done before I come to a decision, although I know what I want to do," he said.

If Donald does retire from Test cricket, it is likely that he will return to Warwickshire under his former national coach Bob Woolmer.

Donald, who is unenthusiastic about touring India next month because of the flat tracks there, said he will go all out in the final Test to complete 300 Test wickets and become the first South African to do so.

"It would be fantastic to do that in this Test and that would definitely give me more options," he said.

He has captured 290 wickets in 60 Tests since South Africa's return in 1992.
