Pakistan's previous best against Australia for this wicket was the 44 runs between Salim Yousuf and Waqar Younis at Sydney on 25-2-1990. The partnership was the second highest for the ninth wicket against Australia. The best still remains as 63 runs between West Indians Malcolm Marshall and Joel Garner at Sydney on 6-2-1985. The top-scorer in the match Saqlain Mushtaq's unbeaten 37 was his highest score in LOIs surpassing the previous highest of 30 not out also against Australia at Melbourne on 16-1-1997. His score was also the highest by Pakistani batting at number nine against Australia. The previous best was the 36 by Shoaib Akhtar at Karachi on 6-11-1998. Interestingly, Saqlain's score was the second highest by any batsman in this position against Australia after West Indian Michael Holding's 64 at Perth on 5-2-1984. Gilchrist also equals the Australian record for the maximum dismissals by a keeper in a day-night LOI match. Gilchrist has now done this on three occasions. Steve Waugh's "duck" was his 15th of his career in his 277th match and 249th innings. He now equals Craig McDermott to become the Australian batsmen with maximum ducks in LOIs. Saqlain Mushtaq's bowling analysis of 8-2-12-0 was the most economical by a Pakistani bowler bowling atleast 8 or more overs in a LOI match against Australia. The previous best was Imran Khan's 8-2-13-3 at the Brabourne Stadium, Bombay on 23-10-1989 in the Nehru Cup. It was the second most economical bowling at this ground after the 9-3-12-1 by Australian Geoff Lawson against Australia on 15-1-1984. Abdur Razzaq's 4-23 was the best performance by a Pakistani at this ground. It betters the previous best of 3-27 by Wasim Akram against the West Indies on 7-1-1989. It was Abdur Razzaq's third man of the match award of his career in 32 matches.
