Kiwis win first one-day series against WindiesNew Zealand beat the West Indies by four wickets in the third one-day international at Napier today to take an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five match one-day series between the two countries. The home team survived a middle-order collapse but held on to register their first one-day series win over the West Indies and just their seventh win overall from 31 matches. Set a victory target of 160, the Kiwis, aided by some excellent and steady batting by skipper Stephen Fleming who compiled a cool unbeaten 66, were through in the 38th over of the match. Fleming and Nathan Astle put on 105 for the second wicket to virtually seal the victory after Roger Twose, Chris Cairns and Craig McMillan fell cheaply to give the West Indies some hope at 126 for five. Reon King was the pick of the Windies bowlers, bagging three for 35 off 10 overs. When the West Indies batted, Chris Harris claimed the wickets of Brian Lara, Ricardo Powell and Wavell Hinds to finish with three for 28 off 10 overs. It was Harris' 144th one-day international, moving him ahead of Martin Crowe to make him the player with the second-highest number of appearances in one-dayers for New Zealand, five behind John Wright. The loss was the West Indies' fifth in a row on their winless tour after two Test losses to New Zealand.
