SA name one-day team to play India

South Africa named a 15-man cricket squad on Sunday for limited-overs tournaments in India and Sharjah next month.

The one-day squad includes ten of the 14 players who depart on Wednesday to play two Test matches in India. After the Tests, four players will return home - batsmen Daryll Cullinan and Boeta Dippenaar, fast bowler Allan Donald and leftarm spin bowler Clive Eksteen.

Batsmen Dale Benkenstein and Neil McKenzie, seam bowlers Steve Elworthy and Henry Williams and offspin bowler Derek Crookes will join the squad for five one-day matches in India, starting March 9, and a triangular tournament in Sharjah involving India and Pakistan, starting March 22.

Fast bowler Makhaya Ntini will join the squad for the Sharjah leg of the tour only. It is the first time Ntini has been picked for South Africa since winning an appeal against conviction and a six-year jail sentence for rape last year, a conviction which was overturned on appeal.

The South Africa squad:
Hansie Cronje (captain), Shaun Pollock (vice-captain), Herschelle Gibbs, Gary Kirsten, Jacques Kallis, Pieter Strydom, Dale Benkenstein, Lance Klusener, Mark Boucher, Neil McKenzie, Nicky Boje, Steve Elworthy, Derek Crookes, Mornantau Hayward and Henry Williams plus Makhaya Ntini for Sharjah only.
