Tamil Nadu bounce back

Tamil Nadu, restricted to 485 after being 397 for four overnight, rocked back to take four Bombay wickets for just 141 on Wednesday, the second day of the Ranji trophy semi-final at the Wankhede stadium.

At draw of stumps, unbeaten at the crease is the school-chum duo of Sachin Tendulkar (34) and Vinod Kambli (8) on whom rest, to a large extent, Bombay's hopes.

Earlier in the morning, the three-pronged Bombay pace attack, giving a majorly improved performance, took the last six Tamil Nadu wickets for the addition of just 88 runs. Santosh Saxena started the slide dismissing the overnight centurion Hemang Badani (162: 253b, 25x4) without any addition to his score and Reuben Paul (20) in a spell of five overs. Agarkar then took three wickets -- S Mahesh (14), Aashish Kapoor (0) and DJ Gokulkrishnan (1) -- in a three-over spell, and Kuruvilla finally took a wicket, castling T Kumaran (5) to bring down the curtains on the Tamil Nadu innings.

The Bombay batsmen -- barring skipper Sameer Dighe (55) and Tendulkar -- however found the going tough, frustrated by the restrictive line of the Tamil Nadu batsmen.

Opener Wasim Jaffer (12), Jatin Paranjpe (15) and Rajesh Pawar (1) were the other Bombay batsmen to be dismissed besides skipper Dighe, as the hosts crawled to 141 from 57 overs by close of play.
