Randhawa, Williams joint leaders

Jyoti Randhawa shot his second successive three under par 69 round to emerge joint leader with Chris Williams of England with a total of six under 138, after the second round of the US $200,000 Hero Honda Masters golf in Delhi today.

The cut was applied at seven over 151 and 71 players made it to the third round.

Vivek Bhandari, Akbar Ali (Ind) and Japan's Daisuke Tsuchiyama were among the 35 players who failed to make the cut.

However, it turned out to be poor day for two European PGA Tour players in the fray. Inadvertant mistakes by favourite Jeev Milkha Singh and Sweden's India born Daniel Chopra cost them two stroke penalties.

Jeev, two over after seven holes, looked like getting back into the grove with birdies on the 17th and 18th holes after starting from the 10th tee. As Jeev approached the first tee (his 10th hole), he got confused on the tee markers and teed off from the wrong side. He was penalised two strokes and had to play again from the correct position.

Jeev had a poor four over par 76 second round, and with a total of six over 150, he is way down the leaderboard at a joint 54th slot along with Daniel Chopra.

Daniel was penalised for arriving late for his start. "His tee off time was 8.06 and he arrived at 8.09 am, just as the first player of his group had teed off," said Antonio Ocampo, tournament director, Asian PGA.

This resulted in a two stroke penalty for him as well.

Daniel also ended the round with four over par 76 and had a two round total of 150.

In another dramatic twist to the day's procedings, India's Zai Kipgen was disqualified for furnishing the wrong score card. Zai, ranked 18th in the Indian Tour Order of Merit, submitted a card of 77 when he had shot a 78. He realised his mistake later and walked up to the tournament director and admitted his mistake, thus disqualifying himself.

Overnight joint leader and Indian Open champion Feroz Ali had a par 72 round and slipped to joint fifth slot with a total of four under par 140.

Jyoti fired an eagle on 18th and had three birdies (1st, 8th and 14th holes)and three bogies.

Chris Williams, who was one of the three first round joint leaders, carded two under 68 and managed to remain on top with Jyoti with a total of 138 (68, 70).
