Statistical Highlights 1st match: Zimbabwe v Australia at Bulawayo (QC) on 21-10-99

• This match was the 1518th in Limited Over international (LOI) history.

• This match was Zimbabwe's 131st and Australia's 441st in LOIs.

• This match was the 13th meeting between the two sides.

• This match was Australia's first in Zimbabwe. West Indies' is now the only team among Test playing nations not to play any LOIs in Zimbabwe.

• This match was Steve Waugh's 274th of his career which makes him the Australian with maximum LOI matches to his credit. Waugh surpasses Allan Border's tally of 273 matches.

• Glenn McGrath was appearing in his 100th match. He becomes the 12th Australian and the 97th player in LOIs to do so.

• Mark Waugh's 106 was his second hundred against Zimbabwe. He becomes the first Australian to score two hundreds against Zimbabwe.

• During the course of his innings he also became the first Australian and the ninth batsman in LOIs to cross the aggregate of 500 runs against Zimbabwe. He now has 512 runs (avg 85.33) in 9 matches.

• It was Mark Waugh's 13th hundred of his career. He has now scored a hundred in seven countries - in New Zealand, in England, in Australia, in Pakistan, in India, in South Africa and now in Zimbabwe. He equals India's Sachin Tendulkar who has also scored hundreds in seven countries. However the record of scoring hundreds in maximum eight countries belongs to Pakistani Saeed Anwar.

• The second wicket partnership of 159 runs between Mark Waugh and Ricky Ponting was the second highest partnership for any wicket in LOIs in Zimbabwe. The highest still remains as the 180 also for the 2nd wicket between Indians Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid at this same venue on 26-9-1998.

• Grant Flower's two catches equals the tally of 42 catches of his captain Alistair Campbell - the most by a Zimbabwean fielder in LOIs.

• Australia's total of 303-6 equals the highest team score ever made on Zimbabwean soil. South Africa had made 303-5 also against Zimbabwe at Harare on 21-10-1995.

• It also equal's Australia's highest total of 303-4 against Zimbabwe at Lord's on 9-6-1999 - which was the previous match played between the two teams.

• Damien Fleming's first wicket of Grant Flower was his 100th of his career. He now becomes the eighth Australian and the 50th bowler in LOI history to do so. By achieving this landmark in his 65th match, he becomes the second quickest Australian to do so after Dennis Lillee and Shane Warne, with both needing 60 matches each in 1983 and 1996-97 respectively.

• The catch of Grant Flower was Adam Gilchrist's 50th this calendar year. He now becomes the only second keeper to reach this figure in LOI history. West Indian Ridley Jacobs also during this year has so far taken 54 catches.

• Neil Johnson (110) on 27 reached his 1000th run of his career. By reaching this landmark in 28 matches and innings he is now the quickest Zimbabwean to do so. Previously Dave Houghton and Andy Flower needed 33 innings to reach their milestone.

• It was Johnson's second successive hundred against Australia. He had scored an unbeaten 132 at Lord's in the recent WC on 9-6-1999.

• The partnership of 56 between Johnson and Gavin Rennie was Zimbabwe's best for the fifth wicket against Australia surpassing the previous best of 42 runs between Andy Pycroft and Andy Waller way back in the 1987 WC at Cuttack on 30-10-1987.

• Glenn McGrath's wicket of Brent was his 50th during this calendar year in 26 matches. He becomes the only second Australian after Shane Warne to capture 50 or more wickets in a year. Warne has achieved it twice - in 1994 (50 wickets) and in 1999 (60 wickets).

• The three catches by Mark Waugh equals the maximum by an Australian against Zimbabwe. Allan Border had also taken three catches at Hobart on 14-3-1992.

• Now both Mark Waugh and Ponting equals the tally of catches of 17 by Englishman Graeme Hick - the maximum by a fielder this calendar year.

• Mark Waugh playing in his 197th match won his 18th man of the match award. He now equals the tally of Border and is just short of Australian record of 19 such awards held by his brother Steve Waugh.

2nd match: Zimbabwe v Australia at Harare on 23-10-99

• This match was Zimbabwe's 132nd and Australia's 442nd in LOIs.

• This match was the 14th meeting between the two sides.

• The wicket of Gavin Rennie was Tom Moody's 50th of his career. By reaching this personal landmark in 75 matches, Moody needed maximum matches for an Australian with the exception of Allan Border (who needed 199 matches) and Mark Waugh (93). He becomes the 21st Australian and 111th bowler to reach 50 wickets.

• Moody now becomes the sixth Australian and the 35th all-rounder to score 1000 runs and 50 wickets in LOIs.

• The partnership of 53 between Grant Flower anf Tony Madondon was Zimbabwe's best for the fourth wicket against Australia. They surpass the previous best of 34 runs between Neil Johnson and Alistair Campbell at Lord's on 9-6-1999.

• Adam Gilchrist equals his own record of four catches - the maximum by an Australian keeper against Zimbabwe. Gilchrist had also taken four catches at Hobart on 8-12-1994.

• Gilchrist also equals the tally of ten dismissals by Ian Healy - the maximum by an Australian keeper against Zimbabwe.

• Gilchrist's four catches has taken him past the record tally of West Indian Ridley Jacobs of 60 dismissals (54ct+6st). Gilchrist now has 63 dismissals (54ct+9st) in 36 matches - to become the keeper with maximum dismissals in a calendar year.

• Ponting's catch of Andy Whittall was his 19th in 31 matches this calendar year, which makes him the fielder with maximum catches in 1999. It is also the maximum taken by an Australian fielder in a calendar year. Following him is fellow Australian Mark Waugh with 18 catches in 36 matches.

• Zimbabwe's total of 116 in 37.3 overs was its fourth lowest in LOIs and the second lowest at home. Their previous lowest at home was the 105-9 in 48.1 overs against Sri Lanka at this same venue on 6-11-1994. Zimbabwe's previous lowest against Australia was the 137 in 41.4 overs at Hobart on 14-3-1992.

• Damien Fleming's figures of 10-4-14-3 was the most economical by a an Australian (bowling his full quota of overs) against Zimbabwe. The previous best figures was 10-3-15-2 by Mike Whitney at Hobart on 14-3-1992. In fact Fleming's figures are the second best economical figures by any bowler in Zimbabwe after 10-1-13-1 by Zimbabwean Paul Strang against New Zealand at this same venue on 4-10-1997.

• For the only second time in his career spanning 132 matches, Shane Warne did not get to bowl in a LOI match. The only other occasion being against South Africa at Sydney on 14-12-1993, when South Africa was dismissed for 69 in 28 overs (126 mins).

• The second wicket partnership of 86 runs between Mark Waugh and Ricky Ponting was the second highest "unbeaten" partnership in Zimbabwe. The highest still remains as the "unbeaten" 89 which was for the fifth wicket between Zimbabweans Guy Whittall and Heath Streak against Pakistan at this venue on 29-3-1998.

• The match aggregate of 233 runs in this match was the lowest for any LOIs in Zimbabwe. The previous lowest was the 305 runs between England and Zimbabwe at Bulawayo (QC) on 15-12-1996.

• The nine wicket victory equals Australia's best in terms wickets in LOIs. It was their ninth such victory in LOIs.

• It was Zimbabwe's biggest loss in terms of wickets at home in LOIs. Last year Zimbabwe had lost on consecutive days (26 and 27 September, 1999) to India at Bulawayo (QC) - by 8 wickets.

• Australia's victory with 129 balls to spare was Zimbabwe's worst such defeat at home.

• The man of the match award was Fleming's second of his career in 66 matches. The previous occasion Fleming has won a man of the match award was against New Zealand at Sharjah on 18-4-1998.

3rd match: Zimbabwe v Australia at Harare on 24-10-99

• This match was Zimbabwe's 133rd and Australia's 443rd in LOIs. Australia equals the tally of Pakistan - the most matches played by any country in LOIs.

• This match was the 15th meeting between the two sides.

• Australia were without Mark Waugh in a LOI match for the first time in the last 58 matches starting from 21-1-1998.

• Steve Waugh was appearing in his 11th match against Zimbabwe, which makes him the Australian who have appeared in maximum matches against Zimbabwe.

• The catch of Madondo by Adam Gilchrist was his 11 dismissal (9ct+2st) against Zimbabwe in 6 matches. He now overtakes the tally of 10 dismissals by Ian Healy.

• Andy Flower became the first Zimbabwean and the tenth batsman in LOI history to miss a hundred by just one run. He also becomes the fourth batsman to remain unbeaten on 99.

• Flower also becomes the only second batsman to miss a hundred by one run against Australia after England's Geoff Boycott (99) at the Oval on 20-8-1980.

• This was Flower's second score in the nineties after his 95 against Sri Lanka at Sharjah on 10-11-1998. Zimbabwe's previous highest score in the nineties was the 97 by Alistair Campbell against Bangladesh at Dhaka on 25-3-1999.

• His unbeaten 99 was the highest score in the nineties by a keeper in LOIs. The previous highest score was the 96 by Kiwi keeper Adam Parore against India at Baroda (IPCL) on 28-10-1994.

• It was the second highest score by a keeper against Australia in LOIs. Only the New Zealand keeper late Ken Wadsworth's 104 way back on 31-3-1974 at Christchurch exceeds Flower's effort.

• It was now the highest score by a keeper in a LOI match in Zimbabwe. He betters his own effort of 76 against Sri Lanka at this same venue on 5-11-1994. Incidentally it was his eight score of 50-plus as keeper in LOI matches in Zimbabwe and he becomes the only keeper to score a fifty in Zimbabwe. The highest score by a keeper other than Flower in Zimbabwe remains as the 41 by Englishman Alec Stewart at Harare on 1-1-1997.

• Andy Flower has now taken his run aggregate against Australia to 279 surpassing the previous tally of 249 runs by Neil Johnson.

• The partnership of 33 unbeaten runs between Andy Flower and David Mutendera was Zimbabwe's third highest for the 10th wicket in LOIs. However it was Zimbabwe's best in a LOI match at home. It equals the previous best of 33 between Heath Streak and Stephen Peall against Sri Lanka at this same venue on 3-11-1994. It was also the highest for the 10th wicket for Zimbabwe against Australia surpassing the 30 run partnership between Campbell and Adam Huckle at Ahmedabad on 3-4-1998.

• The Flower-Mutendera partnership was incidentally the only third highest partnership for the 10th wicket by any team against Australia. The best still remains as the 43 (unbeaten) between Englishmen Angus Fraser and Phil Tufnell at Melbourne on 10-1-1991 and the 40 between South Africans Pat Symcox and Allan Donald at Sydney on 4-12-1997.

• Ricky Ponting (87*) was opening the Australian innings for the first time in his career in 91 innings & matches.

• Ponting during his innings became the second Australian batsman after Mark Waugh to cross an aggregate of 500 runs against Zimbabwe. He now has 505 runs (avg 84.17) in 8 matches.

• He also became the sixth Australian to cross 2000 runs in away matches for Australia in LOIs. In 60 matches and in same number of innings he has an aggregate of 2014 runs (avg 39.49).

• Ponting also became the seventh batsman this calendar syear to cross an aggregate of 1000 runs. Two other Australians Mark Waugh (1468) and Adam Gilchrist (1241) have also crossed this landmark in 1999. Ponting now has 1037 runs (avg 39.88) in 32 matches.

• In the 15 matches played between the two sides - the second wicket partnerships for Australia makes interesting reading: 2, 78, 10, 58, 94, 0, 43, 58, 44, 68, 219, 56, 159, 86*, 157* - a total of 1132 runs (avg 87.07).

• It was Australia's tenth - nine wicket victory in LOIs, which equals Australia's best in LOIs in terms of wickets.

• This was the first occasion Zimbabwe were "white-washed" three-nil in a three-match one-dayer series at home.

• It was Australia's 13th victory in the last 15 matches from 27-5-1999. During this period Australia have "tied" one and lost one (to Sri Lanka in the AIWA Cup final at Colombo on 31-8-1999).

• Zimbabwe who had won the first ever match between the two sides at Nottingham on 9-6-1983 have now lost 14 consecutive matches to Australia.

• Andy Flower won his sixth man of the match award of his career in 121 matches. He now equals the tally six awards by brother Grant Flower and Paul Strang - the maximum awards for Zimbabwe in LOIs.
