Career Notes:
Made his first-class debut for Karnataka against Maharashtra at Pune on February, 1991 in the Pre-Quarterfinal of the Ranji trophy. Scored 82. He put on a 238 run partnership for the sixth wicket with K Jeshwant.

In his very next match he scored his maiden fc hundred - 134 against Bengal at Calcutta. He put on 299 for the fifth wicket with V Arun Raja. He was thus involved in successive 200-run partnership in his first two innings in first- class cricket.

Scored a 95 on Test debut against England at Lord's in 1996.

During 1997-98 season he had six consecutive fifty-plus scores in Tests.

Scored 118 & 48 in the only Test against Zimbabwe - to top score in each innings of the match in October, 1998

In 1998-99 in New Zealand he reached his 2000th run in Tests in just 40 innings - the quickest by any Indian batsman -even quicker than Hazare, Gavaskar and Tendulkar

Scored his first Test 'duck' in New Zealand in December last year, after playing in 24 Test and 37 innings and scoring 1805 runs - a record by an Indian batsman.

In the next match scored a hundred in each innings - 190 and 103* at Hamilton.

Scored an unbeaten 123 at Taupo against New Zealand in the one-day series in January this year.

Scored 107 against Sri Lanka at Colombo in the Asian Test Championships in February this year.

His 461 runs in the 1999 WC was the highest aggregate by any batsman during the tournament.

He put on a record unbeaten patnership of 237 runs against Kenya with Tendulkar at Bristol in the WC which was the best for the third wicket in ODI history by any pair. His contribution being an unbeaten 104.

A few days later against Sri Lanka, Dravid in partnership with Sourav Ganguly put on 318 runs for the second wicket which was then the all-time partnership for any wicket in ODI history. He scored his then highest score - 145.

By keeping wickets in the absence of Nayan Mongia, he became the keeper with the highest individual score in the WC. In all ODIs only Australian Adam Gilchrist (154) has a higher score.

Scored his highest ODI score of his career when he made 153 against New Zealand at Hyderabad on 8-11-99.

In the above match on 331 runs for the 2nd wicket with Tendulkar - which is the highest ever partnership for any ! wicket in the ODIs.

Dravid thus became the first player in ODI history to be involved in two partnerships exceeding 300 runs.

During the 1998-99 season he has scored 2065 runs (avg 49.16) in both the versions of the game.
