Paes, Bhupathi for Asia CupLeander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi will spearhead the Indian challenge in the third edition of the 84,000-dollar Asia Cup Tennis Tournament in Delhi from November 24. India are the defending champions. They won the first two editions of the tournament, defeating Korea in 1997 and Uzbekistan in 1998 to emerge champions. The other members of the Indian team in the seven-nation tournament are Prahlad Srinath and Syed Fazaluddin, with Sandeep Kirtane as the reserve. Jaideep Mukherjee is the non-playing captain. The four-day tournament, which is sponsored by MTNL, will be played on a knock-out basis. Other teams in the fray are last year's runners-up Uzbekistan (represented by Oleg Ogorodov and Vadim Kutsenko), Japan, Korea, China, Thailand and India 'A'. The India 'A' team comprises national hardourt champion Sunil Kumar, Mustafa Ghouse, Vishal Uppal and Vijay Kannan. Vinod Sridhar is the reserve player while Shyam Minotra is the non-playing captain.
