Pakistan inflict innings defeat on South AustraliaPakistan demolished South Australia by an innings and 26 runs on the final day of their four-day cricket match. In a confidence-boosting tune-up to this week's second Test against Australia, Pakistan displayed a creditable overall performance. South Australia, who resumed at 181-7, were dismissed for 250 in their second innings at the Adelaide Oval, the same score as they made in their opening innings. Pakistan scored 526 in their first innings. It was Pakistan's first win of the tour, with the tourists beaten by ten wickets in the first Test last week at the Gabba. But today's victory will provide a welcome boost ahead of the second test, starting in Hobart on Thursday. Leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed and off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq cleaned up the South Australian tail during the morning session on Monday, with Mushtaq having Peter McIntyre caught at slip for one by Ijaz Ahmed to finish with four for 74. Saqlain then had Paul Wilson (20) caught by Ijaz and Mark Harrity (4) out stumped to seal the win. Fast bowler Waqar Younis did not add to his overnight tally of wickets but finished with four for 61 to boost his claims for a Test spot. South Australian opener David Fitzgerald defied the Pakistan bowling to finish on 111 not out after resuming from his overnight score of 67. Scoreboard South Australia first innings 250 (D.
