- on 98, he surpassed the run aggregate of Azharuddin (1118 runs) - to become the highest run-getter against New Zealand by an Indian in LOIs.

- on 182, he surpassed the previous highest score by a captain in LOIs, which was the 181 by West Indian Viv Richards against Sri Lanka at Karachi on 13-10-1987.
- on 184, he bettered the highest score by an Indian batsman, which was 183 by Sourav Ganguly against Sri Lanka at Taunton on 26-5-1999.

• his 186* is now the fourth highest individual score in LOIs after the 194 by Pakistani Saeed Anwar against India at Chennai on 21-5-1997; 189* by West Indian Viv Richards against England at Manchester on 31-5-1984 and 188* by South African Gary Kirsten against UAE at Rawalpindi on 16-2-1996.

• Tendulkar for the first time in his career batted the full 50-overs. Also for the first time Tendulkar has faced so many balls (151) in a LOI match.

• Rahul Dravid during his innings of 153 surpassed the following records...
- on 100, he reached his 7th LOI hundred.
- on 100, he reached his 2nd LOI hundred against New Zealand.
- on 100, he reached his third LOI hundred at home
- on 117, he reached his highest score at home bettering the previous best of 116 against Sri Lanka at Nagpur on 22-3-1999.
- on 118, he surpassed the score of 117 by Tendulkar at Bangalore on 14-5-1997 - the highest by an Indian against New Zealand at home (Tendulkar, a little latter surpassed this record)
- on 124, he bettered the previous highest score by an Indian against New Zealand which his own unbeaten 123 at Taupo on 9-1-1999 (Tendulkar, a little latter surpassed this record too)
- on 138, he bettered Tendulkar's 137 against Sri Lanka at Delhi on 2-3-1996 - the highest by an Indian at home (Tendulkar, a little latter surpassed this record too)
- on 142, he bettered the highest score at this venue, which was 141 by Zimbabwean Dave Houghton also against New Zealand on 10-10-1997.(Tendulkar, a little latter surpassed this record too)
- on 146, he surpassed his personal best of 145 made against Sri Lanka on 26-5-1999.
- on 150, became the first pair (alongwith Tendulkar) to record 150-plus score in a single innings in LOI history.

• The second wicket partnership of 331 runs between Tendulkar and Dravid surpassed the following records...
- on 89, the pair bettered the highest partnership for 2nd wicket against New Zealand in India which was the unbeaten 88 between Gavaskar and Azharuddin at Nagpur on 31-10-1987.
- on 109, the pair bettered the previous highest partnership of 108 at this venue for the 2nd wicket between Australians Geoff Marsh and Dean Jones against England on 19-10-1989.
- on 118, the pair bettered the previous highest partnership for any wicket against New Zealand at this venue which was 117 between Zimbabweans Dave Houghton and Ian Butchart for the 8th wicket on 10-10-1987.
- on 128, the pair bettered India's highest partnership for 2nd wicket against New Zealand which was the 127 between Tendulkar and Azharuddin at Dunedin on 12-3-1992.
- on 170, the pair bettered the highest partnership for any wicket for India against New Zealand which was the 169 between Ganguly and Tendulkar for the first wicket at Bangalore on 14-5-1997.
- on 186, the pair bettered the previous highest partnership for any wicket at this venue which was 185 between Englishman Graham Gooch and Wayne Larkins for the first wicket against Australia on 19-10-1989.
- on 237, the pair bettered the highest partnership for the second wicket in India, surpassing the 236 between Ganguly and Dravid against Sri Lanka at Nagpur on 22-3-1999.
- on 253, the pair bettered the highest partnership involving Tendulkar in LOIs. He had put on 252 for the first wicket with Ganguly against Sri Lanka at Colombo (Premadasa) on 7-7-1998.
- on 264, the pair bettered the previous highest partnership for the second wicket and for any wicket against New Zealand. The previous best was the 263 between Pakistani Aamer Sohail and Inzamamul Haq for the 2nd wicket at Sharjah on 20-4-1994.
- on 276, the pair surpassed the highest partnership for any wicket on Indian soil. The previous highest was the unbeaten 275 between M Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja against Zimbabwe at Cuttack on 9-4-1998, which was for the fourth wicket.
- on 300, Dravid became the first batsman in LOI history to be involved in two partnerships of 300- plus.
- on 319, the pair surpassed the previous all-time LOI record of 318 runs for any wicket between Indians Sourav Ganguly and Dravid which was against Sri Lanka at Taunton on 26-5-1999, which was also for the second wicket.

• India's total of 376-2 surpassed the following records..
- on 228, India surpassed its highest total at this venue, which was 227-3 against Sri Lanka on 18-2-1994.
- on 262, India surpassed the highest total at this venue by any team, which was the 261-7 by South Africa against India 17-10-1996.
- on 307, India surpassed its highest total against New Zealand, which was 306 in the last match at Rajkot on 5-11-1999.
- on 310, India surpassed its highest total at home which was 309-5 against Australia at Kochi on 1-4-1998.
- on 329, India surpassed the highest total made by any team against New Zealand in LOIs. The previous highest was 328-2 by Pakistan at Sharjah on 20-4-1994.
- on 350, India bettered the highest score made on Indian soil. The previous highest was the 349- 9 made by New Zealand in the previous match at Rajkot on 5-11-1999.
- on 374, India bettered its highest score of 373-6 made against Sri Lanka at Taunton on 26-5-1999.

• India's 376-2, is now the second highest team total in LOI history after Sri Lanka's 398-5 against Kenya at Kandy on 6-3-1996.

• The 85 runs conceded by Chris Drum equals the maximum conceded by a bowler in 9 overs in LOIs.Kenya's Martin Suji's had conceded the same number of runs in 9 overs against Sri Lanka at Kandy on 6-3-1996.

• The partnership of 46 runs between Scott Styris and Chris Drum was the New Zealand's second highest for the 10th wicket after its 65 run partnership between Martin Snedden and Ewan Chatfield against Sri Lanka at Derby on 18-6-1983.

• The partnership was second highest for the tenth wicket against India by any team after the 71 run partnership by West Indians Andy Roberts and Joel Garner at Manchester on 9-6-1983.

• The pair also surpassed New Zealand's previous highest against India for the 10th wicket of 28 runs between Richard Hadlee and Chatfield at Adelaide on 25-1-1986.

• India's victory by 174 runs was its best in LOIs in terms of runs. Its previous best was the 157 run victory against Sri Lanka at Taunton on 26-5-1999.

• It was also New Zealand's worst defeat in LOIs in terms of runs. Australia had beaten the Kiwis by 150 runs at Christchurch on 4-3-1990.

• Tendulkar won his 35th man of the match award of his career. It was his fifth such award against New Zealand.
