Graf ranks number three heading into farewell Slam

Steffi Graf, almost certainly playing her final Grand Slam, has been ranked third for the upcoming US Open.

With the top 104 women in the WTA Tour singles rankings getting into the Open, which begins August 30 at the National Tennis Center, world number one and reigning champion Lindsay Davenport, who also won Wimbledon earlier this year, takes the top spot.

Ranked number two is last year's US Open runner up Martina Hingis, while Venus Williams, who in 1997 became the first unseeded finalist at the US Open in 40 years, comes fourth behind Graf. Number five is Monica Seles, who won back to back Opens in 1991 and 1992.
